Lovey Super Lovey

So many things to blog about. So many changes happen so quickly.

Hero is taller than Tethys by about a half an inch. Her hair has grown in such a quirky way, it's long in the back and on top but it hasn't grown at all in front. It's got these cute curly-queues in the back that are so cute when they spiral I haven't had the heart to cut them, despite the fact that they sometime don't curl and then she has a crazy mullet.
She also has determined that even though her 4 loveys are interchangeable (bought that way on purpose so if one were lost it wouldn't be the end of the world) she has determined minor differences in them. So now they all have their own names, and she has a favorite. The favorite is named "Lovey Super Lovey". We have no idea how this happened. We didn't call it that. Her only conscious exposure to the word "super" has been when we hold her in the air and tell her she's flying like a SuperHero. But, Lovey Super Lovey is here to stay.  So if Lovey Chubby Lovey and Lovey FrankenLovey (he's had lots of work done) and Lovely Other Lovey (who has yet to have meaningfully different characteristics). Okay, I may have named the other 3. Lovey Super Lovey is the most squished, the stuffing in his face leans to the right (his left) and he gets the dirtiest. But she loves him: so I do too.

Tethys was watching one of her TV shows two days ago, Pingu. Pingu is a Swedish penguin made of clay who doesn't say any intelligible words and mostly plays make-believe with his baby sister and his seal friend. While watching the show she turns to me and says "Pingu juggle the ball." I look up and sure enough, Pingu is juggling a ball. I know I'm her Amma, but I was impressed with her sentence. It is the longest she has said so far - although she gets her point across quite well. She is the Enforcer. We sometimes call her TethysBoss, (like we call her pappou PappouBoss). She knows the rules and she makes you play by them. If Hero or... well, anyone really, does something against the rules then Tethys says,
"NO!"
"No throwing, Ro-Ro!"
"No jumping, Ro-Ro!"
"Bad Ro-Ro!"
She's also very opinionated:
"Tethys, are you all done?"
"No all done! More! ... Please."
See, she's polite about it. It's like even though she's a mere minute older than her sister, she has decided that one minute means she is the statistical Older Child (if you buy into birth order... which I do).

Hilariously, Hero's favorite game is, "No, mine." The way this game is played is by seeing something that Tethys likes but is not usually playing with at the moment, for example, a wooden doll and to grab it, run to wherever Tethys is sitting, show her the doll and say, "No, mine." Tethys is ALWAYS bothered by this and has to have the doll back immediately. Hero then holds the doll close and runs away (but not too far away) shouting, "No, Mine!" Tethys chases her is a frenzy shouting, "No no no! Mine! Bad Ro-Ro!"

I roll my eyes with laughter. And then if they can't work it out for themselves after a few minutes I put my amused face away and put my Amma face on and go break it up.

Gotta love the little buggers.

  2. You forgot to mention that Hero's feet are a good half inch different in size, so finding shoes that fit her is nearing impossible.

Oh and yesterday we unintentionally taught the girls how to do wheelbarrows. (Hands on the ground, walking forward with your feet up in the air)Hero caught on very quickly and started laughing. This brought Tethys over. She watched with giggles for a few moments and then dived in. SHe also did very well.
