Aunts and Uncles

Can one set of twins have too many honorary aunts and uncles? Does naming friends and extended family as aunts and uncles diminish the importance of real ones?

Ah well, I don't need to worry too hard about it when talking about Aunt Darby and Uncle David. Since our moms are identical twins David is genetically my half-brother and not just my cousin, so that makes him the half-uncle AND second cousin of my girls. Uncle works for me.

David and Darby just came out for a visit a few weeks ago. It was wonderful to get to know Darby a bit and really get to know David as an adult. We did grow up together and go to the same high school but 6 years difference means a lot at that age. Now we are all grown ups.

I've never known a couple without kids to have such inexhaustible patience with babies. They couldn't get enough hugging and holding and feeding and bathing of our little ones. Bless them!

They even got us out of Seattle in our first trip with our new stroller (more on the stroller later).
