Big Girl Beds

Hero is a climber:
Out of the crib.
Into the crib.
Out of the pack and play.
Into the pack and play.
When we started to come in in the mornings to find her up on the changing table we knew the time had come for Big Girl Beds.

So, we talked up the BGB and then we went to 5 different stores looking for toddler bedding. (Target came through!) They picked out their bedding: Hero went Thomas the Tank Engine with a Thomas pillow, Tethys chose a Zoo Train theme with an Owl pillow. We made the switch last weekend and the first nap was... non-existent.So. Much. Excitement!

That night was excruciating: in beds, out of beds, lights on, lights off, jumping on the beds, falling in the floor... at one point I went in and Tethys had shut a giggling Hero in the closet. By 10pm (7pm bed time) they were finally out.  This continued for many days but now they have mostly calmed down. They are still noisy and talky and jump in and out and on the beds for about an hour - but they now get back in their beds to fall asleep. And they stay in the room (that was the problem on night 2 - it was not popular with their parents). But now, it seems to be working.

On to the next thing...

  1. After picking myself up off the floor from laughing.... Darian, you are wonderfully humorous in your observations of life with twins!
